Unbelievable Silver medalist at the Beijing Olympics. With her on the podium of the downhill Nadia Delago, bronze. 

The athlete from Bergamo, 23 days after the knee injury (partial injury of the cruciate ligament and micrfracture of the fibula), managed not only to get back on skis, but also to do it in an exceptional way with a stunning result: silver and second place ! 

Sofia, reigning champion in the specialty, beaten for 16 cents by the Swiss Corinne Suter.


“I am proud of this medal,” says Sofia after the race. "It was not at all obvious after the injury three weeks ago in Cortina. In the race I had good sensations, in the central part I think I got a bit of wind. Below I lost everything, the plans are not my strong point, but I'm happy anyway. But Italy is also celebrating for Nadia Delago, who finishes third, bronze medal. A sort of debut for her, born in 1997, younger sister of the other blue Nicol, who finished eleventh. Haunted by injuries: Van Basten Marco Van Basten was born on the 31st of October 1964 in Utrecht. He grew up in the Oog In Al neighbourhood.
